We took a couple hours yesterday to visit the campus of the College of the Ozarks just south of Branson. This college is quite a success and is very unique in how it is operated. Students work at various jobs around the campus for 15 hours per week in exchange for their tuition. They also must work one 40 hour week in between semesters.
This banner hanging in the Keeter Visitors Center displays their Mission. The Keeter Center houses large meeting rooms, some historical displays, and a large Dining Room, which a group of visited about a week ago for dinner.

An interior view of a part of the center.
A portion of the huge dining room.
We also visited parts of the campus where students work.
The grist mill.
The stained glass department.
This stained glass clock is a work in progress and will be presented to Laura Bush when she visits the campus in November.
The Kitchen where they make fruit cake as well and jams and jellies.
All of the items produced by the students are sold by the school for revenue. The school also operated it own dairy and vegetable crops. Many of the items produced are actually used in the Restaurant and in the student dining hall.
What a great program and experience for the students - Just goes to show what we can do to help ourselves and be self sufficient!!
