From Turqouise RV, Cedar Crest, NM
We are in a park about 10 miles east of Albuquerque, not far off of I-40. The drive from Santa Fe was only about 50 miles along a scenic route, and was without incident (we thought). But, as I returned from checking in to help Donna finish un-hooking the truck, we discovered a major failure of the tow bar.
One of the brackets that is between the frame and the tow-bar had actually snapped in two. Fortunately, there is a safety chained that kept everything pretty much in place and there was no damage to the truck, the motorhome or the remainder of the tow bar.
We have ordered a complete new set of frame brackets, which should arrive on Monday, the 9th, and will be installed on Tuesday, the 10th.
Monday night Mac and Netters were in the same park overnight, headed east so we had a chance to have dinner with them.
Mac and Netters left the next day and we started seeing a few sights in and around Albuquerque. At one point we visited the Albuquerque Aquarium and Gardens, which were quite nice.
Although not the largest aquarium we have been in, this one was quite well done and fairly extensive.
Regardless of the low lighting, I was able to get the photo with the camera set at 6400 ISO, and a wide aperture.
This beautiful turtle was about 2 feet long and over a foot wide.
Over the last several days we have also visited a couple of casinos. I even won a couple of hundred on a visit to the Sandia Casino in the north part of Albuquerque. Donna has won some and lost some, and so far is about even during our stay here.
The Hard Rock Casino is located about 15 miles south just off I-25. The Isleta Pueblo (tribe) 'owns' the casino and benefits from the profits.
All of the casinos in the area are owned by the various pueblos, and is a big financial benefit to each tribe.
Late one afternoon we visited the Sandia Aerial Tramway, although we were not interested in taking the trip to the top at that time.
Hi Guys, do you feel like you are doing a sequel to the Traveling Pants? Now known as the Traveling Window. LOL Have fun. Guess we will see you in Cody. Hugs
