From Elkhart County Fairgrounds, Goshen, IN
Well, the closing ceremonies were held yesterday afternoon, followed by a Hot Dog supper and some more entertainment. The week has been filled with lots of seminars, lots of networking, and a whole lot of getting together with our friends, both old and new.
At least two couples that are in the market for previously owned Foretravels stopped us to talk about our coach. So, Donna did a bit of house-cleaning and one afternoon we just had a little open house.
Several of our group departed this morning, for all points, and others, like us, have moved to full hook-ups and staying a few more days. We decided to hang around, probably until Monday to have some more quality time with some of our favorite people.
The fairgrounds here in Goshen is an excellent facility for a rally such as the Escapade, with more than adequate parking for the 796 rigs that registered. Seminar rooms were very good, however, the large building that would accomodate 1500 people was barely adequate with limited lighting and barely adequate sound.
The Vendor building was too small for the desired vendors, although the outside vendor area was very nice and well laid out.
Overall it has been a great experience, great to see so many RV friends, and make new RV friends. As they say RV'ers are the friendliest folks in the world.
We will be hosting a little Happy Hour at our rig this afternoon. Tomorrow we will probably go to the Apple Festival in Nappanee. Sunday will be wrap up day for us and on Monday we will point this home on wheels to the south.
We plan to spend a day or two in Hannibal, Mo. birthplace and home of Mark Twain. Then on to Texas.
