From Mark Twain Cave and Campground, Hannibal, Mo
We left the Elkhart County Fairground this morning shortly before 8a.m. Traveling mostly Interstate highways, we passed south of Chicago, and in Joliet, IL. headed southeast toward Missouri.
After all the beautiful weather and great temperatures we experienced in Elkhart and Goshen, it was quite a jolt to see the temperature at 87*. Oh, I know, all you folks in Lufkin was having 92* weather today. It's gonna take a while for us to get re-acclimated to these 'warmer' temps.
We drove a tad over 400 miles and arrived in Hannibal about 2:30. Of course we gained an hour during the trip. We are now officially back in Central Time.
It's doubtful we will tour the cave, but the campground is convenient to town. I would consider this campground an ok place for a couple of nights in order to experience the Samuel Clements / Mark Twain aspect.
We will partake of the Mark Twain experience tomorrow and then drift on further south come Wednesday morning. We should be back in Lufkin by the week-end.
More tomorrow...
After one of the coldest summers we Albertans have ever had all this talk about hot days is little uncalled for....lol.
